His areas of specialization are the various historical stages of Kabbalah as well as Eastern European Hasidism. Research interests include the emergence of Kabbalah as a literary tradition, the interplay of Kabbalah and Jewish philosophy, Jewish Messianism, and Jewish esotericism.
