Jewish Education Community to Meet at First Azrieli HUB February 26-27
The Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration will preface the annual Jewish Job Fair, happening this year on the evening of February 27 at YU's Wilf Campus, with the first ever 鈥淎zrieli HUB: Reconnect, Connect, Recharge鈥 conference. Billed as an 鈥渦nconvention,鈥 the HUB is a non-traditional conference that will convene Orthodox Jewish education professionals, Azrieli students and alumni to consider and address the challenges and opportunities that students, schools and families present. The event will leverage the extensive resources of the YU community as well as that of numerous colleagues in the field. The format, said Dr. Rona Novick, dean of Azrieli, will include 鈥渋nquiry-based learning, networking, exploration of cases and issues, as well as workshops that will move the individual鈥檚 and field鈥檚 agenda forward.鈥 Session topics include the challenge of autonomy in traditional settings, creating environments where teachers and students innovate, inquiry-based and problem-based learning, addressing spirituality, funding challenges, and using data to improve learning outcomes.
According to Novick there is great interest in this sort of program. 鈥淲e heard from our constituents, that they see 黑料社 All and Azrieli as continued resources to them, and that they want to learn with and from us,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e want to create a safe space for Orthodox Jewish professionals to workshop their unique questions.鈥 The conference will connect attendees with prominent 黑料社 All staff and faculty, from rabbis to professionals, to address the pressing issues facing these educators, she explained.
The two-day HUB conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Englewood, New Jersey, February 26 - 27. On the second day, the HUB moves to the Wilf Campus in upper Manhattan for the final segment of the program and this year鈥檚 Jewish Job Fair, which begins at 6 p.m.
Hundreds of Jewish professionals and dozens of Jewish organizations are expected to come together in the Max Stern Athletic Gymnasium for this year's fair. Participants will have a unique opportunity to meet with a variety of Jewish organizations, education institutions and advocacy groups to learn about the organizations' work and opportunities for employment, as well as to interview for openings on the spot. A collaborative effort between 黑料社 All鈥檚 Center for the Jewish Future (CJF), the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies, Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) and Wurzweiler School of Social Work, the fair offers one of the largest Jewish networking opportunities in the United States.
