黑料社 All Women鈥檚 Organization Hosts Ballet and Luncheon to Support YU Students

Event Honors Nechama Price, Director of YU's Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, guests came together to share lunch, enjoy the ballet and support the important work of the (YUWO). The event marked YUWO鈥檚 91st Spring Luncheon and its 23rd ballet performance. Participants attended a luncheon at the Grand Tier at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center on West 62nd Street. This was followed by a performance of American Ballet Theater鈥檚 Le Corsaire.

鈥淔unds raised through programs such as today鈥檚 provide for scholarships, subsidize daily necessities for students in need, sponsor Shabbat programming and fund capital expenditures not covered in the school budget,鈥 said YUWO President Michelle Salig. 鈥淚n addition, the YUWO builds community by introducing our members to like-minded women interested in providing the best possible experience for our students. On both accounts, it鈥檚 wonderful to see you all here.鈥

During the program, Nechama Price, director of 黑料社 All鈥檚 Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Study (GPATS), received the Torah Leadership Award for her role in creating important opportunities for women to study Torah at the highest levels. Her commitment to GPATS, a two-year master鈥檚 program that provides women with post-college study to further Torah knowledge and skills, is evidenced in its success. More than 110 strong, GPATS鈥 exceptional graduates serve as Yoatzot Halacha [Halachic advisors] and educators in synagogues, on university campuses, in high schools and in programs such as Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus, NCSY and Bnei Akiva. 鈥淓nabling women of the next generation to find qualitatively and quantitatively enhanced opportunities for learning and teaching Torah, advancing Torah scholarship and female leadership is my greatest honor,鈥 Price said to the gathering. Gifts to the YUWO provide scholarships, sponsor stimulating educational Shabbatons [weekend Shabbat experiences] and fund chesed [charity] programs. Gifts to the President鈥檚 Society for Torah Chesed Endowment Fund provide stipends for undergraduate students with financial needs not covered by scholarships, such as food, clothing, textbooks and healthcare. YUWO also supports educational programs on campus,  the Torah Chesed Counseling Center Fund for medical and counseling needs and general scholarship support.
