Renowned Personalities to Speak Throughout the Community October 8-9

Sep 14, 2010 -- The Five Towns will be hosting prominent 黑料社 All visiting scholars over Shabbat, October 8-9, in various shuls around the community. The Shabbaton鈥攕ponsored by YU鈥檚 (CJF) 鈥攚ill feature renowned personalities including President Richard Joel; Rabbi Hershel Schachter, RIETS rosh yeshiva; Rabbi Yona Reiss, Max and Marion Grill Dean of RIETS; Dr. David Shatz, professor of philosophy at YU; and Rabbi Kenneth Brander, David Mitzner Dean of CJF. 鈥淭he goal of the weekend is to bring the diverse Torah knowledge of YU to the thousands of families in the Five Towns,鈥 said Rabbi Brander. The weekend will feature 鈥渟omething for everyone鈥 including a Friday night tisch for high school young men and a shalosh seudot with Rabbi Schachter. Young women will be invited to a panel discussion with prominent female leaders from the Orthodox community. Speakers will spend Shabbat rotating between Aish Kodesh, Beis Haknesses of North Woodmere, Congregation Beth Shalom, Congregation Kneseth Israel (The White Shul), Young Israel of Lawrence Cedarhurst, Young Israel of North Woodmere and Young Israel of Woodmere. 鈥淭he Jewish future is going to be shaped by key communities, by their inhabitants their values and their institutions,鈥 said President Joel. 鈥淭he Five Towns is one such community.
