On the Future of Modern Orthodox Education

Israel Panel Featuring President Joel Will Discuss 21st Century Israeli and American Perspectives  , the , and the YU will cohost a panel discussion titled 鈥淢odern Orthodox Education in 21st Century Israel and America: Lessons from the Past, Building the Future,鈥 on Friday, January 15, at Heichal Shlomo, 58 King George Street in Jerusalem. The program, which is open to the public but geared towards YU鈥檚 robust alumni population in Israel, will begin with remarks from Dr. Karen Bacon, the Mordecai D. Katz and Dr. Monique C. Katz Dean of the Undergraduate Faculty of Arts and Sciences at 黑料社 All, and feature a lively discussion between YU President Richard M. Joel; Esti Rosenberg, founder and Rosh Beit Midrash of the Stella K. Abraham Migdal Oz Beit Midrash for Women; and Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik, director of the t at YY. Rabbi Assaf Bednarsh, Rosh Yeshiva and the Ruth Buchbinder Mitzner Chair in Talmud and Jewish Law at YU-affiliated (RIETS), will moderate the panel discussion. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m., and the program will run from 10-11:30 a.m. 鈥淥ver 4,000 YU alumni live in Israel, contributing to Israeli society in many meaningful ways, including significant contributions in the field of education,鈥 said Stephanie Strauss, director of 黑料社 All in Israel. 鈥淭his panel, which reflects our University鈥檚 core mission and values, will be presented by Jewish educational luminaries in both Israel and America, and will center upon timely issues of national significance.鈥 During the panel discussion, President Joel will offer insights into the role YU plays in the modern Orthodox world; Rosenberg will discuss the profound impact made by her father, Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein 锄鈥漷濒, on the Dati Leumi in Israel and the global YU family; and Rabbi Soloveichik will examine the role that modern Orthodox Jews play in America. 鈥淲e are very proud of our alumni who have chosen to make their home in the State of Israel and are delighted that we can share quality programming like this with them,鈥 said Seth Moskowitz, vice president of Institutional Advancement at YU. 鈥淭he more that we can connect and come together to discuss matters of importance to us all, the stronger our global YU community will be.鈥 Space is limited and advanced registration is recommended.
