黑料社 All and Orthodox Union Offer Joint Learning Programs for Three Weeks and Tisha B'Av
黑料社 All鈥檚 (CJF) and the Orthodox Union (OU) will once again combine efforts on programs for the Three Weeks and Nine Days leading to Tisha B鈥橝v, to be followed by a variety of shiurim [lectures]on Tisha B鈥橝v itself.
The Three Weeks begin on Tuesday, July 15鈥 the Fast of Shiva Asar B鈥橳ammuz, the Fast of the 17th of Tammuz, with its restrictions on levity. The Nine Days, with its deeper restrictions, begin on Sunday night, July 27, Rosh Chodesh Av. Tisha B鈥橝v itself, the Ninth of Av, extends from Monday evening August 4, until nightfall Tuesday, August 5.
鈥淲e are proud to partner with the Orthodox Union in providing our community with an inspirational program for Tisha B鈥橝v,鈥 said Rabbi Yaakov Glasser, David Mitzner Dean of the CJF. 鈥淭his collection of shiurim address the meaning and poignancy of Tisha B鈥橝v in the framework of our contemporary Jewish experience.鈥
The centerpiece of the program is a video featuring Rabbi Glasser; Rabbi Menachem Penner, Max and Marion Grill Dean of YU-affiliated (RIETS) and Undergraduate Torah Studies; Mrs. Shoshana Schechter, assistant professor of Bible and director of the at ; Rabbi Steven Weil, senior managing director of the OU; and Rabbi Ari Lamm, a student at RIETS and the William Fischman rabbinic intern at The Jewish Center.
鈥淚n light of the tragic events in Israel during the last few weeks, the Three Weeks will be a time of deep introspection for the Jewish community,鈥 said Rabbi Judah Isaacs, director of community engagement at the OU. 鈥淭he jointly prepared video classes by the Orthodox Union and 黑料社 All will provide a forum on Tisha B鈥橝v for synagogue members to learn about the tragedies of the day, and how they resonate in our times.鈥
The free DVD will be sent to all Orthodox Union member congregations and by CJF to synagogues across North America, Israel, the United Kingdom and Australia. All synagogues can order the DVD in advance at no cost .
